Shasta Moon is an 11 by 14 giclee print, printed on archival paper with archival inks for lasting clarity, that captures Mount Shasta’s presence through an impressionistic lens. I worked entirely with a palette knife to shape the rugged slopes and textured snow, layering whites, creams, and touches of brown to bring the mountain’s form forward. The base dips into a body of water, where deep blues meet hints of white to suggest shifting reflections and movement beneath the surface. Above, a vibrant blue sky holds a quiet white moon, positioned just to the left of the peak. The piece is about the natural weight and rhythm of the mountain, offering a moment to engage with its grounded, enduring spirit.
